What is Networking?

Networking is an easy passive way to engage with other professionals in your area, which might increase your chance of finding job opportunities.  Also, sometimes companies will not openly advertise the jobs but will silently recruit and reach out to applicants. If you know many people already and have previously spoken to them, they could remember your profile and your experience and may reach out to you quicker. If you are looking for work you should engage and network with 3 types of people, In-House Recruiters, Hiring Managers and Agency Recruiters.

What I can do for you is teach you exactly how to talk to them, what to say to them, how to call and get though to them when required, how to find the contact information to reach out to them, and how to judge the situation as it unfolds!
We can create an exact structure of how you should engage those people and practice that too.

In-House Recruiters

In-house recruiters are recruitment personnel that are working for a single company and recruit only for that company. On LinkedIn, for example, they may have job titles like talent acquisition specialists, internal recruiter, or simply recruiter.
  • Why reach out to them: because they often have the long term vision of who will be required for the business and what skills they should have. They can actually suggest your profile to the hiring manager before the job is live. It is worth introducing yourself to them.

Agency Recruiters

Agency recruiters as the name suggests work for an agency and have many different jobs that they work on, with their "clients".  They will mostly work on commission based on the annual salary of the person who they put into a job.
  • Why reach out to them: Because they have access to many jobs (because they work with many clients) and they know what clients want when they look for staff. Therefore, they can suggest to you how to improve your profile when working on an application for a job. In saying this, agency recruiters should be your second priority as not every job will be with an agency.

Hiring Managers

Hiring managers, or managers of the department are the end-decision makers who will make the ultimate choice of who gets the job.
  • Why reach out to them: Because often times, if they want to hire someone they can make it happen more than a recruiter can. Also, the hiring manager knows exactly what he/she wants and when they see it, their actions are much more decisive than that of a recruiter. The problem is that not every manager is willing to be engaging with outside applicants, and some prefer to leave this part of their work for recruiters.

Take Away Points

Many people do not utilize the power of networking because they lack the knowledge how, they are shy, they lack confidence, or a combination of these. I can teach you step by step how you can make this happen! More than that I can support you as you go through your job hunt journey.
